Weekend Wind Down

It's Sunday and the weekend is coming to an end... I hope everyone has had an amazing weekend! For me, this weekend was very relaxing, and we didn't really do much around here. I'm glad it was a chill weekend, because tomorrow I start working again for the semester! I'll miss being able to do whatever I want basically all day, but I definitely missed working and got a LITTLE bored without anything to do. At least I still get another week to sleep in before school starts (AH!). Here's what went on this weekend...
Weekly date with my mom and sister at our favorite cafe in BR, Magpie Cafe! They have, hands down, the best coffee in town, and amazing pastries. We look forward to this all week!
Trolli gummy eggs are seriously SO addicting, and they just so happen to go perfectly with popcorn, so that's what I ate Friday night to accompany my Netflix binge watching Scrubs...
My setup to get ready for church Sunday morning... I'm probably going to take this mirror back to my apartment with me and put it on top of my new makeup storage in my room! I think it's really cute! And of course, my morning coffee in my Cinderella mug. I was going to do a quick OOTD after church, because I ended up really liking what I wore. When we left it was sprinkling so we made a run for it and on our way to the car it started to pour.. Just to paint the picture a little better... I was running in wedges (almost fell twice) and had a white shirt on that was starting to get soaked...roughhh, so the OOTD didn't quite work out. Maybe next time.

What'd you do this weekend?

Current Wish List

Each month I put aside a little money to buy a few beauty products...okay or a lot of beauty products... but so my spending doesn't get over ridiculous I make a wish list and wait to buy a few things off of it each month. I just check off what I've bought and add others as I go. These are a few of the things currently on my wish list...
1. MAC Lipstick in the shade "Créme in Your Coffee". It's a beautiful nude color and hello it has coffee in the name... I'm sold. I still want to swatch this in store and make sure it looks good on my skin tone, and if it does you better believe this will be added to my collection soon.

2. Makeup Geek Eyeshadows. These are just beautiful and I have seen tons of videos where people swatch them and sing their praises. This beginner palette just came back in stock and I want to get my hands on it ASAP.

3. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I have heard many good things about this product and I am a sucker for a good concealer. I have yet to find one that doesn't settle in the fine lines under my eyes, and I am excited to give this one a try!

4. Bareminerals 5 in 1 BB Cream Eyeshadow. I got one of these in my ipsy bag last month and I love it! I got sort of a taupey color and I want to get a real neutral color to use as a base for my eyeshadow. When I used the one I have, the colors didn't budge all day. I am already a fan of this!

5. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. Confession time: I don't own a primer, and have never used one before. I'm still not sure if one is really necessary. I'm still not 100% sold on them. But, I have super oily skin and have heard that this one helps to combat oil, so I would like to give it a try. This thing is so dang expensive, so if I decide to try it out, I will buy the smaller size.

So there you have it, all of the things I am currently waiting to buy! I am super excited to try these products out. What are some things on your wish list?

In other news, I have been searching for a new camera. I think I've found one that I really like that is reasonably priced. I can't wait to get it so I can have WAY better picture quality and hopefully be able to make some videos soon!

Dermatologists Orders!

Skincare Update! This post may be a little all over the place, but I have a lot to talk about so just bear with me! As you know if you've read my last post, I recently visited my dermatologist and an aesthetician for my acne. Before I went to see her, I was doing an all natural skincare, which I liked, but I think at this point with all of this acne, I needed something a little stronger. I read a few blogs, researched a little bit and found a few things that worked for people with similar skin type and problems as me, so I went out and bought a few of those products. They weren't too expensive, so if I didn't like it, it wasn't a huge deal. This routine has worked for others with my skin type, but I didn't see major results just yet. I could have given it a little more time but more on that in a second. This is what I was doing...I take my makeup off with coconut oil, or the body shop chamomile cleansing butter, both of which I love, then I WAS using my Treskin RX cleanser ( still love it), toning with Thayers Cucumber Witchhazel toner, and moisturizing with either my Treskin RX moisturizer during the day or grapeseed oil at night. If I was breaking out bad I would use tea tree oil. I recently bought the toner, and grapeseed oil so I didn't really have enough time to decide if I liked the routine as a whole or not, but I made this appointment way ahead of time, so whatever. Throughout the day if my face needed refreshing, I would use the body shop vitamin E spray or a little more toner. (When doing this routine it didn't feel like much, but now that I'm listing all the products it sounds like a lot!) If I felt I was having a huge major breakout, I would use some of the Mario Badescu drying products (drying lotion, or drying cream). These are good products that I like, they aren't all natural but thats not a huge deal, and I was desperate. This routine wasn't clearing up my acne, but don't think it was causing the breakouts. I like this routine and may go back to it once the acne is taken care of (plus or minus a few things), because I think the problem is deeper than just what I put on my skin. I will see if I like this new routine the doctor gave me and may or may not go back to this routine (plus prescription). I am going to just take it step by step. I still LOVE my Treskin RX and it pains me to stop using it for a little while, but I am listening to what the dermatologist told me to do because this acne NEEDS TO GO. Now after all of that, back to the dermatologist visit... First of all, I absolutely love this dermatologist and would definitely recommend her! When I saw her she told me, like all the others, that my acne is hormonal, which I knew already. What she gave me is different than any of the others I've seen. I've tried benzoyl peroxide, retin-a, and many other topical products that just dried me out while the acne remained. I know about some other options such as accutane and birth control, but I really didn't want to put my body through all of that and wanted to keep it as natural as possible, while still getting the job done. I told her all of this and she completely understood so, she prescribed something different... She gave me a prescription pill of spironolactone to take once a day for 3 months, and a lotion to use in the morning which is supposed to be moisturizing as well, not just dry out my skin. She also gave me of a gentle foaming face wash to use with the lotion morning and night. After my appointment with her she sent me to the aestheticians upstairs and I got a salicylic acid peel (we'll see how that worked out within the week) and extractions. I know that this is harsh on the skin, but I feel like I really needed all of that junk pulled out. If my skin responds well, I will start to schedule this once a month. I am supposed to wait 4-6 weeks to see results and then see the dermatologist again, so in about 4 weeks I will update you all again!
I hope you like me posting about my skincare. I really wanted to share this experience with ya'll and my feelings on the new things I am trying to find out what really works and what doesn't. It's something that is so important to me, and I like reading what worked for other people with my skin type. I know it's hard to find something that works, so hopefully what I'm going through will help someone with similar skin problems in the future!

Thanks for stopping by!

Makeup Storage & Organization

I've just recently updated my makeup storage situation and I am really happy with how it turned out! I had bought these little drawers from Wal-Mart a while back just as a temporary storage, because I knew my stuff would outgrow it soon. These drawers are super small and short so you can't fit much in each of them. A lot of my products were too tall to fit in these drawers and it only fit 2 foundations in the bottom drawer and it just became a mess. I have products of all shapes and sizes and these drawers were just not cutting it. I had to start putting things in makeup bags and then I didn't know what was where and it was just really unorganized. I started looking at some better storage online, but didn't want to spend a fortune on it, I am still in college after all.
I found this 3 drawer piece for $60 at target and I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. They are plastic and have a wooden looking top. It doesn't look super cheap (it doesn't look expensive either), it's easy to clean, and fits in the spot I wanted it perfectly. You can put the small wheels on it for convenience, which I like, but I didn't put them on (laziness takes over). I may eventually put them on so it will be easier to use. I don't expect this storage to last me forever either, but it should last me a while and it does the job nicely. I bought some smaller organization baskets for inside the drawers at the dollar store and spent about $10 on all of the pieces (11 pieces).
Excuse the shadows in these pictures, I just snapped them on my phone right before I left.

(plus the stuff in my messy makeup bags)

I tried to do all face products in one drawer and eyes in another. I've only filled up two so far.
Top Drawer:
setting sprays, foundations, concealers, bronzers, highlighters, and powders
  Bottom drawer:
eyeshadows... my palettes will go in that space next to my individuals & duos, eyeliners, eyebrow pencils, mascaras, blushes, & random lip products that didn't fit in my lipstick holder.
Finished Product:
I will also add my brushes on top!

On another note...I went to the dermatologist this morning and this time I went to different one to get a second opinion on what to do about my crazy hormonal acne. Although it is much better than it was, it still isn't clear and it is one of the most frustrating things in the world. I have dealt with it for so long and I'm just tired of it. This doctor was FANTASTIC. She was sweet, personable, and very knowledgeable. She told me some different things than the last doctor and gave me a couple prescriptions (nothing crazy) and right after, she sent me to an aesthetician. More details on these two visits coming soon in my next skincare post!

How do you organize your makeup? Any organization tips?

He restores my soul

As I'm sitting here listening to the words of "Ever Faithful" I am reminded that the Lord restores my soul and that I rest in the mercy of the father. What a sweet reminder! I know the week can get hectic and crazy sometimes and I have to remember to just rest and let him restore my soul. I love the way this is put, "When we cooperate with the rejuvenating rhythms he has ordained for us each day, we will be physically, emotionally, and spiritually restored so that we can renew our pilgrimage and follow him for eternity." Take some time to rest in him and let God restore your soul. Remember He is more than able and our God is ever faithful!

Have a great Thursday, it's almost the weekend!

New Additions

Today I'm going to share a beauty haul and show you all of the things that I have purchased recently that I just got in the mail! In one of my more recent posts I said that I ordered a few things from Ulta. I also ordered a few things from The Body Shop (40% off sale woo!) and got a new contour brush from makeup geek.
These were a few things that I got in the free 16 piece set from Ulta for spending over I think $60? Anyway, it came with some great samples! I've tried a few, including this mascara and so far I'm liking it!

From Ulta:
1.Benefit Hoola Bronzer (so far I like it to contour with).
2. Benefit Gimme Brow in light/medium which now I am thinking I might should have ordered the darker one, but I'm still trying it out.
3. Evian mist in a 2 pack of the travel size... love this stuff.
I also got the 16 piece set with a lot of deluxe size samples and also the cutest beach bag in the world (free for buying a benefit product) that says laughter is the best cosmetic. Love that!

From makeup geek:
1. Rounded blush brush which I have been using to contour with the hoola bronzer and I really like it. It has shed a little bit, but I don't know if that's just initial shedding or what because the more I've used it, the less it's shed.

From the Body Shop:
1. Tea Tree Oil. If you've read my other skin care posts you know that I love tea tree oil, and that hasn't changed. I absolutely LOVE tea tree oil for bad breakouts, and this one is awesome because the top is a little dropper so you don't use too much product at one time.
2. Vitamin E mist. I've heard a lot of good things about this and I am super excited to try it out.
3. Chamomile Cleansing Butter. I like using this to remove my makeup. I am almost out of my other one so since there was a 40% off sale I ordered another. I don't think I would buy this without it being on sale, because I wouldn't pay $16 for it although it is really good stuff. I got my first one on sale at Ulta and then got this one on sale as well so yeah...
4. Muslin Cleansing Cloth. You are supposed to use this along with the cleansing butter to remove your makeup and I never purchased it with my first one so since there was a sale I figured why not! I think this will be better than removing it with water alone.

I have added a few things to my skincare routine after researching a little more and reading some other people's advice.  I picked up a few natural skincare items from GNC. I just wanted to mention these because I did just buy them also, but I will talk more in depth about them in my next skincare update which is coming very soon!

What have you purchased recently?

Thanks for stopping by!

Beauty Favorites for Summer

1. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour blushes are amazing. They have gorgeous shades and are very long lasting which is perfect for hot and humid days in the summer.
2. EOS lip balm in lemon drop with SPF 15. In the summer I need a good hydrating lip balm with SPF in it because I am outside all day in the pool. If my lips burn or they get too much sun I get cold sores, and I've been using this everyday and haven't gotten one all summer! I've been loving this and it smells like lemon good!
3. Too Faced Sun Bunny bronzer. This is perfect for a sunkissed glow and it is actually very natural. It doesn't make me look orange or muddy or anything like that. It's so beautiful on the skin and I have been wearing this often for a bronzed glow!
4. Clean & Clear oil absorbing strips... I seriously cannot live without these things. I have the oiliest skin in the world and I use a couple of these a day to soak up the extra oil on my skin. I know that so many brands make these now, but I think these are still my favorite. They don't smear my makeup and I like that these are plastic instead of that weird papery feeling.
5. O.P.I Nail Lacquer in Cajun Shrimp. I love this color for summer. It's so bright and beautiful on my nails! It's sort of a reddish-coral shade. I like to wear this on my toes or on my fingernails (obviously not at the same time) and it looks great either way.

Cajun Shrimp on my nails (it looks different on camera).

What are your summer beauty essentials?
Hope everyone has a blessed day!

BH Cosmetics Creme Luxe Lipstick Review + Swatches

Hey everyone! I just got these lipsticks from BH Cosmetics in the mail the other day. I heard about these through the youtube grapevine, and they were such a great price ($3.95 WHAT) and had a great color selection that I had to buy a couple! I ordered the colors Coral Escape, and Naked Peach. The packaging is pretty crappy, but that's not something I really care about, especially for the price. These lipsticks have great pigmentation, both have a satin finish, they're super opaque, and they glide on the lips so smoothly. They stayed on my lips for quite a while and didn't just slide off like I find a lot of lipsticks do. I didn't find them super moisturizing, and they sat in the lines of my lips the first time I tried them, but my lips have been quite dry lately. When I tried them the second time I put a lip balm on underneath and it looked MUCH better, so I would suggest doing it that way. Also, I think these are beautiful with a gloss on top as well.
Overall I really like these lipsticks and would purchase more.
Coral Escape & Naked Peach

Have you tried BH lipsticks yet? If so, what are your thoughts on them?

This week is my last week of work for the summer, and I'll have about 2-3 weeks off to enjoy the rest of my summer work free! I am really hoping I get more time to spend working on my blog and posting more frequently. I really want to get consistent with posting, because so far I am loving blogging about what I am passionate about and can't wait to have more time to put into it. Stay tuned!

Happy Monday everyone!

Back Home!

I just got back home from the 5 day cruise that I went on with my family. We had an AMAZING time! I loved not having to do anything for myself and always having food available (duh). There was not one moment I wasn't having a good time. We cruised to Cozumel and Progreso on the Carnival Elation. It isn't one of the bigger ships, but I was totally okay with that. There weren't as many people as there were on past cruises I've been on and it was so nice because we didn't have to wait in long lines and there were always layout chairs available. There was plenty for us to do as a family and we also did some girls (me, my mom, and sister) things while my dad and brother went off and did guy things. We went to brunch and tea time, two things we LOVE, and had such a great time together. When we got off in Cozumel we signed up for riding the dolphins!! I LOVE DOLPHINS. I loved dolphins already before this experience and now I love them even more. They were so sweet and I had the time of my life with them! I look like a 12 year old haha!
Not only did we get to ride them, but we got to kiss them too!
They were so precious and we had a blast in Cozumel!
We went snorkeling and paddle boating at this resort in Cozumel as well, but this was definitely the highlight of my day... well of my cruise altogether!
Progreso was eh... The beach was crowded and there were a lot of people asking if you wanted to buy things nonstop. There was a lot of poverty there, and my heart goes out to all of those people. I'm still glad we got to experience Progreso and give a little extra to the people there and to realize how blessed we were to be able to be on the cruise having the time of our lives. Humbling.
After all of our stops we had our last day at sea on our way back and we went to brunch and had some delicious blueberry pancakes YUM. We soaked up the sun, shopped, went to tea, and played bingo on the ship, and just hung out together. Overall it was a fantastic cruise with the people I love.
Now that I'm back, I still feel like I'm swaying on the ship when I walk around my house. I could barely stand up still yesterday and it's such a funny feeling.
On to other random things... When I got home I was surprised with my very first ipsy bag! Wooo hooo! And this morning I online shopped way too much (oops). I ordered some things I've been eyeing at Ulta and I've been waiting for them to do some kind of deal before I ordered, and today they had a free 16 piece bag of goodies when you spend over $60 or something, and I'm all about free stuff, so I finally placed my order! Yayyy!
Back to my first ipsy bag...
Inside I got the Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal beach spray, Bareminerals 5 in 1 BB eyeshadow, Pixi lip balm tint in Pretty Pink, Pop beauty sunkissed bronzer, and the Hang Ten natural sunscreen tanning oil.
Overall I really like it so far! I've used the lip balm which I like. It's a very pretty color on the lips and is very moisturizing. I used the beach spray yesterday and I like that too. The bareminerals 5 in 1 BB eyeshadow is a cool concept and makes for a good eyeshadow base. I haven't tried the other items yet, but I've swatched the bronzer and its SUPER sparkly. I'm not a huge fan of sparkly bronzers so I don't know how much I will use that one, but I'll give it a try and see how it goes. So far, I'm loving my ipsy stuff!

That's about all I have to talk about for now! Hope you had a great weekend!

Quick Update

HEEYYYYY everyone! I have been working SO much this summer and now I get a week away! My family and I are going on a cruise woowoo! I am super excited and just started packing tonight. We're leaving Saturday morning! Talk about last minute booking (we booked Monday). Regardless, I am super excited to have a little time off to just relax and do whatever I want and wake up at whatever time I want. It's a 5 day cruise, we wanted to go on a 7 day, but that didn't happen and it's a long and very frustrating story. Anyway, hopefully I will be able to start blogging a little more when we get back and I will definitely be posting some pictures from our trip!

Have a great weeekend!

Concealer Crazy

Apparently I've been concealer obsessed lately because I just bought two, and got one a few weeks ago, and I'm planning on buying MAC prolong wear concealer as well! I don't know why, I've just been looking for a great one and have been trying out a few both drugstore and higher end. So far I LOVE the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer. It's really brightening and has great coverage. I'm still trying out the NYX HD concealer, which I also recently purchased. I've also been using the bye bye undereye concealer by IT Cosmetics. I got a travel size for free for buying another IT Cosmetics item from Ulta, so it's not full sized. I love the consistency of it and it does a fantastic job of covering up dark under eye circles. The neutral/medium shade is perfect for me and I will repurchase this when I run out. I will be purchasing the MAC prolong wear concealer and will let you know what I think once I've tried it out!
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in the shade Light
NYX HD concealer in the shade Light
Bye Bye Undereye in the shade Neutral/Medium

I'm super excited to try this one! I'll probably be around the shade NW20 ish?

What's been your favorite concealer lately?

Sorry for all the crazy changes on the blog! I'm still working on getting my pictures the right size and still experimenting with it to get it how I like it and all that so just bear with me!

Why does vacation have to end?

I had such an amazing time at the beach this past week, and I was NOT ready to come home. I could have stayed for another week. Time flew by way too fast. I love staying on the beach all day and then going in to get cute and ready for dinner. At the beach I feel like I can get all dolled up or I can just throw on some mascara and be good to go, it doesn't really matter. The weather was absolutely perfect this week. We got plenty of sun and on the day we left it started to rain, so it seems we timed it perfectly.
Amazing weather and we saw plenty of boats pass.
I brought so much makeup I couldn't decide what to put on! (And Lily Pebbles in the background.)

We rented a pontoon our last full day there and it was a blast! We rode around and fawned over all the amazing beach houses, we stopped and hung out on the little islands out on the bay, and we also stopped to jump off whatever it is that holds up the bridge underneath it ( I have no good name for that.) Anyway, that was SO much fun, even though we had to climb up a skinny, slippery log to get up there. Here's a clip of my sister's friend Emily's jump for your entertainment... not so graceful..
Probably the highlight of my day right there haha love her!

Needless to say, I'm not ready to go back to work tomorrow and start waking up early again. I've enjoyed sleeping in everyday for the past week. Vacation, you will be missed. Hopefully another isn't too far away!
That's all for now! I just got a ton of goodies from Ulta and I need to do a post on it!
Have a good week!

Weekend Festivities

These past few weeks have been CRAZY. I went straight from finals week right into a week of working outside doing swim lessons! I have another week of straight working all day and then I will be off to the beach for a week with my family! That's why I have been missing for the past few weeks. Here are a few fun pictures of what I did this weekend...

Coffee and sweet treats with my mom at Magpie. Best coffee in BR.

A day at the pool without working! Trying to get rid of the "X" tan I have on my back from the whole piece I wear to work, which is pretty much an impossible task.

Breakfast for dinner after one of my best friends brother's graduation! So much fun, and suuuch good food.

Sunday afternoon walk around the LSU lakes. It was a beautiful day!

And the gorgeous sunset over the lake.

How did you spend your weekend?

Pretty in Pink (lipstick that is)

Today I decided to do a post all about pink lipsticks. I have been loving pink lipstick lately and there are so many different varieties and shades out there so I am just posting the few that I own!
(it looks orange here I don't know why?- bad lighting)
NYX in "Chic Red"
It's not really a red like it says in the name. It's obviously a very bright creamy pink and I love this color on!
 MAC "Flat out Fabulous"
I love this color. It's a bright matte pink. I like to wear a little lip balm underneath it so it doesn't look dry. It's such a pretty color and I have been wearing it a ton lately.
 Flower "Pink Flamingo"
This is also a matte shade and I like lip balm underneath it as well. This color is brighter than the MAC color and a little more summery to me.

 Getting into the lighter shades:
This color is from the Sephora Cinderella collection that was released a few years ago. I'm pretty sure they don't have it anymore, but I know there are many similar colors out there and this one is more neutral pink.

The last one is also from the Cinderella collection. This one is a baby pink and it's super light. I like to wear this with a lipgloss just because I think it's a little light for me.

I wanted to show a side by side comparison, but I'm still new at this and haven't figured all that out yet. Any help?
Anyways, spring break is now over for me so it's back to school work. 2 more weeks of class and then finals will be hitting! I can't believe we are almost done with this semester! I had a great spring break. I got to see family that I haven't seen in years, and went to a gorgeous wedding in New Orleans. I got some good family time in for Easter and I also went to the beach with my roommates. It was SO relaxing doing absolutely nothing but sitting on the beach and soaking up the sun. It was awesome getting to forget about everything for a little while. Today it was back to reality and back to work. Only a few more weeks!
Until next time!
