Snippet of Encouragement

Throughout this week I've been hearing sweet reminders to give EVERYTHING I do my best effort. I started this with my studying for ECON, and it paid off! I FINALLY got a grade I'm proud of on an economics test. So thankful! My first reminder of this was from Becca's post "Key Stone" Small reminder, but it really hit me! I love how encouraging her posts are! Also, I get daily texts from one our family friends and the text for today talked about the same thing and used the same scripture! I've been meditating on that scripture this week and have really been letting it sink into my heart. I know it can be hard sometimes, but just push through! Giving our best effort not only makes you feel better about the things you do, but it pleases The Lord. Be encouraged today, and whatever you do, give it your all!

"Whatever you do, do it with all of your heart as if you are doing it for the Lord, not for man." Colossians 3:23

Black and Blue

I find I've been wearing a lot of black and blue lately (one of my recent posts had 2 black an blue outfits). What I put on this morning for church was also black and blue and I've been loving it! I feel like these colors go so well together. I like having classic black and white with some blue thrown in there. This is what I put on this morning for church...

Blazer: Charlotte Russe
Striped top: Express
Black jeans: Forever 21
Heels: Michael Kors
Bracelet: Pacsun
Watch: Fossil via TJ Maxx

Sorry for the sleepy eyes in the first picture, it was early (for me).
I just started getting into wearing blazers and I love them. I really like that this one had a black button that pulled it altogether. When I wear a blazer I feel like my look is more sophisticated and classy. I loved this outfit today and I'm so happy that I'm able to wear pants and 3 quarter length tops and sweaters, finally some fall weather in Louisiana! Yay!

Today will be filled with studying, coffee, and more studying! Economics test tomorrow morning, ugh! Prayers are much appreciated!

Date night in NOLA

Last night Jake and I went on a date in New Orleans to see a movie. We went to the Theatres at Canal Place, which is a movie theater where dinner is served. We had such a great time! We went to see Gravity and it was an awesome movie, but raised my stress levels for sure! It was a fantastic experience and was so worth it! It was unlike anything I've done before and would definitely do it again. Anyways, like I said I would, I've been experimenting with things in my closet and this is what I came up with.

Top: Zara
Necklace: jewelry show
Jeans: Asos
Belt: Michael Kors via TJ Maxx
Flats: American Eagle (old)

Not that this outfit looks very out there, but I haven't worn this necklace in years, I never pull out those flats, and I didn't exactly know how the top would look tucked in, or how it would all come together. I must say though, overall I'm pleased with how it came out! And you can't really tell in these pictures, but these jeans are high waisted and I LOVE them!

Now for my makeup which was definitely my favorite part about my look.

For my foundation I started with MAC Studio Fix foundation and applied it with a Sonia Kashuk stippling brush. Then, I used MAC blotting powder to set my foundation. I used Clinique True Bronze Pressed Powder Bronzer in "Sunkissed" below my cheekbones and Covergirl cheekers blush in "Rose Silk" on the apples of my cheeks. Under my eyes I used Clinique line smoothing concealer in "moderately fair". For my eyes first, I used E.L.F. eye lid primer. Then, I used my Naked 2 Palette and put "Foxy" under my brows. I used "verve" on the bottom part of my lid and then used "tease" in my crease. To highlight the inner corner of my eyes, I used "bootycall". Then I lined my lids using E.L.F cream eyeliner and winged out the outer corner. I didn't want it too precise looking so I used "blackout" with a smudge brush and went over then wing and underneath the outer half of my eye as well. Then, I used a regular black eyeliner to line only the outer half of my waterline. To finish it off, I used Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara. For my lips I used "Moonlight Kiss" from the Cinderella collection at Sephora.
I LOVE how this look came out!

Thats all for today. It's game time! Geaux Tigers!

Peplum and cobalt!

These two outfits I absolutely love that I've worn this week. Same color scheme and look, but still different outfits.

I went shopping this weekend and picked up this shirt and these capris and I love them together! I wore this to church last night and had dinner with my man!
Top: Express
Capris: TAHARI via TJ Maxx
Watch: Target
Sandals: Academy
Bag: Chanel
I'm wearing this outfit tonight to my boyfriends initiation into some honors program for the top 5% in his class. Yeah, he's a genius. Then we're going to dinner with his parents afterwards. I'm pretty excited! I love this outfit and I've made a decision to step out more with my clothes and experiment. I have tons of clothes and sometimes get stuck in a rut about what looks good with what. I know there's so many looks I can put together and an determined to do it! I don't want all my outfits to look the same each time I put the same shirt on. Anyways...
Top: Apricot Lane Boutique
Capris: Express via TJ Maxx
Bracelet: Christmas gift
Heels: Target
Clutch: Michael Kors

Sorry for the bad quality selfies, I had no one to take pictures for me. I'm not a professional blogger yet ;)

Have a lovely evening!

NYC has my heart

There's something about The Big Apple that makes my heart smile! I've been twice and I just can't wait to go back! There is a slight chance that my family and I may go for Christmas time! Of course all the hotels around Times Square are booked, but that's okay as long as I'm close! Just thinking about New York City during Christmas time makes me giddy! Christmas is already my favorite time of year, so my favorite place at my favorite time of year would be perfect!  I went last Christmas on a mission trip to the Bowery Mission, and it was an experience I'll never forget. What they do there is incredible and I'm so glad that that's how I first experienced NYC. That trip to NYC stirred something inside of me. That was when my makeup obsession began and started to grow like crazy. I've always loved makeup, but something about being in the city made that dream open up in me. Oh, how I would love to do makeup for the runway! Major dreams! I want to start pursuing makeup more seriously, but as of right now it will have to wait until I finish my first degree! I feel so alive and I just love it. I can't exactly put my feelings into words, but I'm trying. One of my favorite things about being in NYC is getting to dress nice. Living in Louisiana, we never look nice on an ordinary day. Nike shorts and a t-shirt is the usual attire and it gets so boring. I love pulling out my 3-quarter length sweaters in the city and actually looking like a person. It is WAY too hot here in Louisiana to wear them whenever we want, so usually I just look like I just rolled out of bed. Seriously, if you just saw me around, you'd  never know I could do makeup. Anyway, I love NYC. The place has stolen my heart.
What a view...
Gives me chills!

I would also LOVE to go to London, and I know I will someday. Maybe there will be a blog post about how much I love it there too! :)

Where do you feel like you belong?
