Christmas Party #1

Our first two Christmas parties have been a success! My outfit from the second one was not worth blogging about because I wore sweats. It was very casual and it was a looonnngggg day. I looked pretty terrible to be honest. Our first party was with my moms family that we don't get to see as much as we'd like to. It's always nice to visit and catch up with them. It reminds me why I love my family so much! Spending time with them always makes my heart smile so big! That's really whenever I spend time with any of my family... I wish we could all get together more often, but I know that everyone is SO busy and we all do the best we can.  So back to my outfit...

I bought this shirt at TJ Maxx earlier this season and I absolutely LOVE it. This is probably one of my favorite shirts right now. I find myself pulling it out of my closet often. It is so comfortable and cute and very festive. I love wearing it with this gold chunky necklace, but it's also perfect for layering as well. It looks so cute under sweaters!
Shirt: Lauren Ralph Lauren via TJ Maxx
Necklace: Call it Spring
Jeans: Forever 21
Boots: Gift from my boyfriend
Watch: Michael Kors
For this look I kept my eyes pretty neutral and used a deep red on my lips. It looks really good with this shirt and I love the color for winter. I've been really loving NYX lipsticks lately. I've bought like 4 new ones because I just can't get enough! I'm wearing the extra creamy lipstick in "Snow White".

Our last Christmas party is on Christmas Eve and I will definitely be blogging about that one when the time comes because I bought the PERFECT dress! I can't wait to wear it and show it off! AND Christmas Eve is my birthday! Woooohooo!

Hope y'all are all having a great holiday season so far!

Time to relax

Now that finals are FINALLY over my roommates and I headed to the beach for a mini getaway weekend. We can feel the relaxation hit and the stress from finals drift away.
This was my view for a whole week
And finally this is my view
This is what I've been waiting for! Can't wait to just sit and do NOTHING.
When I get back next week I'll have more beauty related things to post. But hey who can't say this view isn't beautiful?
Anyways I'm super excited for the holiday festivities next week. I'll be posting makeup and outfits soon!

Now for a whole lotta nothing.

Finals Week

It's finals week and I'm already on my third cup of coffee of the day! I'm taking a quick study break before my brain goes into accounting overload to give a quick update. I hope everyone is having a great holiday season so far! I can't wait until finals are over so I can do nothing but enjoy the holidays and the people around me. I'm also happy to say that I am DONE with Christmas shopping! It feels good to be done early so I'm not freaking out 2 days before Christmas scrambling around to find those last minute gifts. I did a lot of online shopping this year, and surprisingly I loved all of it! It was super easy and I found some great things at some great prices. What have y'all found so far?
Annndddddd break time over. Gotta get back on the study grind.

Have a great week!

Makeover time!

On Saturday one of my friends, Grace, had her semi-formal and I had the privilege of doing her makeup, and my roommate did her hair. My other roommate played mom and took a thousand and one pictures haha! She looked absolutely gorgeous! She's already beautiful without makeup on, so I just accentuated her features and gave her a little oomph.
(She came over with her foundation already on, so I just did a little bit of touching up on her face)
I love the red lip with her black dress, and the gold in her eyes looked amazing with her gold sparkly heels(not pictured)!
What I did:

I swiped on some NYX Pinched blush on her cheeks. Underneath her cheek bones and the edges of her forehead I used my Clinique bronzer for a little bit of contour and then used NYX illuminator underneath her eyes and on her nose for a slight shimmer and highlight.

First off, I primed her eyelids with E.L.F. eyelid primer. For eyeshadow I used my Naked 2 Palette. Under her eyebrows I used Foxy. In her inner corners to highlight, I used Bootycall. I used half-baked all over the lid and blackout on the outer corner and then blended it into the gold, nothing too complicated. For liner, I used black Revlon liquid liner on the top and bottom. I smudged the liner on the bottom with my Sonia Kashuk smudge brush.  I curled her eyelashes and then used Tarte: Lights, Camera, Lashes which is my favorite mascara right now!

I lined her lips with my Clinique nude lip liner, and then used a bright red from the Rimmel London Kate Moss collection. Not sure what it's called, it was her lipstick.

I had a great time giving Grace a makeover and just having some girl time! Sorry for posting this so late, it's been a busy weekend and beginning of the week, but I'm off for the rest of the week and I'm ready to relax and hang out with my family! Hopefully I'll have some time to post some Thanksgiving outfits.
What are you wearing for Thanksgiving?

Dreaming Big

I'm a girl with big big dreams, and I intend on chasing these dreams until they become a reality. My dreams have been growing and growing inside of me and I feel like they are going to just burst out anytime now. I want to start setting goals for my life, and most importantly staying surrendered to the Lord so that He can lead me in the right directions, because I know He has placed these dreams and desires in my heart.
This is pretty much a list of all of the things that I would like to do:

1. Live in NYC for a period of time
2. Attend MUD in NYC
3. Become a makeup artist and have my own studio
4. Have days where I do makeup for free for women who have interviews and can't afford it
5. Possibly do makeup for the runway
6. Have my own makeup line
7. All the while giving the glory where it belongs and lifting up the name of Jesus
Obviously I wouldn't be able to accomplish one of these goals without Him.

Based on my goals you're probably wondering why I'm an accounting major in Louisiana right now. Well I'm not quite sure. I know that having a business degree will help me with the business side of things in life, but also God has me here for a reason. I know He has me where I'm supposed be and being here has something to do with my destiny. Everyday God is molding me and preparing me for my future.

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26
Sometimes I feel like these dreams are so out of my reach and I start to think negatively, but I know that God is on my side, and with Him nothing is impossible.

"Delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4
The key here is delighting in the Lord. I want all my delight to be in Him and His desires to be my desires.

Have a great week!

Pictures and a Pop of Pink

Before I start writing about beauty stuff let me just say that IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS TIME! YAY! I love Christmas time, it really is the most wonderful time of the year. So in the spirit of Christmas, my family and I put our Christmas decorations up in our house yesterday and this is what our tree looks like this year...
Isn't it pretty? We were feeling very festive yesterday and it was the first time we've done the tree together in years!

Yesterday my siblings and I took pictures to give to my grandmother for her Christmas present and I think they came out really good! I'm going to share how I did my makeup for the pictures. We haven't gotten them back yet so I won't have much to compare my makeup to until we get them, but I know these tips work!
I did a little bit of highlighting and contouring to brighten up and shape my face. The concealer I used to highlight looks great, but wears off easily and I DO NOT LIKE IT. Any concealer suggestions? Anyway... I also used a little more blush on my cheeks than I would normally use, because you can get away with that in pictures more than you can everyday. I stayed away from anything sparkly on my face. Also, you don't want to use a foundation with a lot of SPF in it when taking pictures, because it will reflect the light.
I think I look creepy in the picture, but this is the only good shot I could get of my eyes. I stuck to using matte eyeshadow colors, and stayed away from a lot of sparkle and shimmer. I think matte looks a lot better in pictures. I also used a white eyeliner to line my waterline to make my eyes appear bigger.  I used a black liquid liner to line the top and bottom of my eyes. When I applied liner to the bottom I used a smudge brush so that it wouldn't look too harsh. I used a lot a lot of mascara to get big, full lashes. I think that's the best thing to do for pictures is to have full lashes. I don't like to wear false lashes, because I already have really long eyelashes, but if you don't I would suggest them for taking pictures! My favorite trick for pictures is to stamp the top waterline with my mascara wand. It sort of a step under tight lining and it looks amazing!

On my lips I just used a nude color to look more natural.

I added this one just for fun. I call this my "model pic" haha, yeah right.
We should have our pictures soon and I will post them so that y'all can see!

This was my outfit I wore to church today and I absolutely LOVE these heels (and this lipstick).

I apologize for my puffy eyes in these pictures, this was after church and yes I cried in church today. It was a fantastic service.

Lipstick: NYX in Chic Red (it's not red it's more of a holiday pink)
Top: Maurices
Over: Forever 21
Skirt: Michael Kors
Shoes: Jessica Simpson (Dillards)

Hope everyone is having an amazing Sunday! Rest Rest Rest!

35 degrees in Louisiana?

Wow, nothing for 10 days I'm really slacking on my blogging lately. Finals are coming fast though and I'm trying to stay ahead so I don't feel overwhelmed when they hit. I'm in class and SUPPOSED to be paying attention, but my brain really doesn't start working until about 9 a.m. It's finally chilly here in southern Louisiana. It's been in the thirties the past few days and I like being able to bundle up and drink hot chocolate and wear sweaters. Knowing Louisiana I'm sure we'll be back up to seventies in a few days. I wish it would just pick a temperature and stay! I have nothing really worth posting about today, just keeping y'all updated. This weekend I'm taking some family pictures, so I will be posting a little bit about my outfit and how to do makeup for pictures! Stay tuned! Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Happy hump day!

Holiday Wishlist

Is it too early to start my Christmas wishlist? Oh well. I've been eyeing these products for a while now and I will definitely be getting them this holiday season whether I buy them myself or if I get them from Santa ;)
1.) Mac False Lashes Extreme Black
I have a slight obsession with mascara. I love trying new ones and I love the look of long, full, beautiful lashes!

2.) Divine Night Fluidline in Deliciously Rich
(From Mac's Divine Night Holiday Collection)
Seriously, how gorgeous is this color? This would be SO pretty for the holiday season and I can't wait to get my hands on this one!

3.) Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
I've seen many many bloggers and review sites rave about this eyelash curler. Like I said, I like the look of long lashes and can't wait to try this eyelash curler! (I've been using a VERY old Revlon one for years now and it's time for a replacement.)

4.) Original Beauty Box (deluxe size)
I love showing off my makeup and being able to see everything, and right now all of my makeup is in cheap plastic storage drawers from Wal-Mart. It definitely doesn't do my makeup justice and it isn't very neat. This will definitely help to organize my makeup in a very cute way. I sure wish it came with all of the makeup inside, but sadly the makeup is not included haha.

Have you tried any of these products?
What's on your wishlist this holiday season?

Birthday dinner!

Halloween was my moms birthday and yesterday was my brothers, so tonight we had a family dinner at Ruffinos. I love being around my family and I love dressing up! After a day of studying (and a little shopping), it was a great way to end my day!
I'm loving this new NYX lipstick I got today!

LBD: Forever 21
Necklace: Charlotte Russe
Heels: Maurices

Roomie date with a little Pinspiration

I haven't been able to post as much as I would like to, but school comes first and that has unfortunately been taking over my week days. Anyway... Last night one of my roommates and I went to dinner at The Little Village. Wow, what they say about their bread is absolutely true, it is FANTASTIC! Dinner was great and after that we went and rented a red box movie and watched until we couldn't keep our eyes open anymore! It was a great night, a little bit of dressing up, but still a very chill night. And of course at dinner I spilled water on myself, it wouldn't be an event if I didn't do something stupid. So now for my outfit and makeup! I had been wanting to wear this outfit for a while because I had seen something like it on pinterest and loved it! Oh and by the way, I dyed my hair for the first time ever, and I love it!!! I wanted a little something different for fall and ended up getting it dyed and got some layers!
Top: Charlotte Russe
Black Jeans: Forever 21
Leopard heels: Target
Purse: Michael Kors via TJ Maxx (older)

The Pinspiration:
I didn't roll my sleeves like this because it was pretty chilly last night, which I am very thankful for! But you can definitely see where I got my look from. I took this idea, made it my own, and used what I already had in my closet!

Now for the makeup:
Makeup is obviously my favorite part of getting ready and I loved how my eyes looked with my new hair!

Just wanted to share my looks with y'all! I don't know if I should do a "get the look" after every makeup post I do because I know they're long, unless y'all really want to know, then I'd be happy to! Side note, I really should invest in a new camera.

Have a lovely Saturday!

Snippet of Encouragement

Throughout this week I've been hearing sweet reminders to give EVERYTHING I do my best effort. I started this with my studying for ECON, and it paid off! I FINALLY got a grade I'm proud of on an economics test. So thankful! My first reminder of this was from Becca's post "Key Stone" Small reminder, but it really hit me! I love how encouraging her posts are! Also, I get daily texts from one our family friends and the text for today talked about the same thing and used the same scripture! I've been meditating on that scripture this week and have really been letting it sink into my heart. I know it can be hard sometimes, but just push through! Giving our best effort not only makes you feel better about the things you do, but it pleases The Lord. Be encouraged today, and whatever you do, give it your all!

"Whatever you do, do it with all of your heart as if you are doing it for the Lord, not for man." Colossians 3:23

Black and Blue

I find I've been wearing a lot of black and blue lately (one of my recent posts had 2 black an blue outfits). What I put on this morning for church was also black and blue and I've been loving it! I feel like these colors go so well together. I like having classic black and white with some blue thrown in there. This is what I put on this morning for church...

Blazer: Charlotte Russe
Striped top: Express
Black jeans: Forever 21
Heels: Michael Kors
Bracelet: Pacsun
Watch: Fossil via TJ Maxx

Sorry for the sleepy eyes in the first picture, it was early (for me).
I just started getting into wearing blazers and I love them. I really like that this one had a black button that pulled it altogether. When I wear a blazer I feel like my look is more sophisticated and classy. I loved this outfit today and I'm so happy that I'm able to wear pants and 3 quarter length tops and sweaters, finally some fall weather in Louisiana! Yay!

Today will be filled with studying, coffee, and more studying! Economics test tomorrow morning, ugh! Prayers are much appreciated!

Date night in NOLA

Last night Jake and I went on a date in New Orleans to see a movie. We went to the Theatres at Canal Place, which is a movie theater where dinner is served. We had such a great time! We went to see Gravity and it was an awesome movie, but raised my stress levels for sure! It was a fantastic experience and was so worth it! It was unlike anything I've done before and would definitely do it again. Anyways, like I said I would, I've been experimenting with things in my closet and this is what I came up with.

Top: Zara
Necklace: jewelry show
Jeans: Asos
Belt: Michael Kors via TJ Maxx
Flats: American Eagle (old)

Not that this outfit looks very out there, but I haven't worn this necklace in years, I never pull out those flats, and I didn't exactly know how the top would look tucked in, or how it would all come together. I must say though, overall I'm pleased with how it came out! And you can't really tell in these pictures, but these jeans are high waisted and I LOVE them!

Now for my makeup which was definitely my favorite part about my look.

For my foundation I started with MAC Studio Fix foundation and applied it with a Sonia Kashuk stippling brush. Then, I used MAC blotting powder to set my foundation. I used Clinique True Bronze Pressed Powder Bronzer in "Sunkissed" below my cheekbones and Covergirl cheekers blush in "Rose Silk" on the apples of my cheeks. Under my eyes I used Clinique line smoothing concealer in "moderately fair". For my eyes first, I used E.L.F. eye lid primer. Then, I used my Naked 2 Palette and put "Foxy" under my brows. I used "verve" on the bottom part of my lid and then used "tease" in my crease. To highlight the inner corner of my eyes, I used "bootycall". Then I lined my lids using E.L.F cream eyeliner and winged out the outer corner. I didn't want it too precise looking so I used "blackout" with a smudge brush and went over then wing and underneath the outer half of my eye as well. Then, I used a regular black eyeliner to line only the outer half of my waterline. To finish it off, I used Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara. For my lips I used "Moonlight Kiss" from the Cinderella collection at Sephora.
I LOVE how this look came out!

Thats all for today. It's game time! Geaux Tigers!

Peplum and cobalt!

These two outfits I absolutely love that I've worn this week. Same color scheme and look, but still different outfits.

I went shopping this weekend and picked up this shirt and these capris and I love them together! I wore this to church last night and had dinner with my man!
Top: Express
Capris: TAHARI via TJ Maxx
Watch: Target
Sandals: Academy
Bag: Chanel
I'm wearing this outfit tonight to my boyfriends initiation into some honors program for the top 5% in his class. Yeah, he's a genius. Then we're going to dinner with his parents afterwards. I'm pretty excited! I love this outfit and I've made a decision to step out more with my clothes and experiment. I have tons of clothes and sometimes get stuck in a rut about what looks good with what. I know there's so many looks I can put together and an determined to do it! I don't want all my outfits to look the same each time I put the same shirt on. Anyways...
Top: Apricot Lane Boutique
Capris: Express via TJ Maxx
Bracelet: Christmas gift
Heels: Target
Clutch: Michael Kors

Sorry for the bad quality selfies, I had no one to take pictures for me. I'm not a professional blogger yet ;)

Have a lovely evening!

NYC has my heart

There's something about The Big Apple that makes my heart smile! I've been twice and I just can't wait to go back! There is a slight chance that my family and I may go for Christmas time! Of course all the hotels around Times Square are booked, but that's okay as long as I'm close! Just thinking about New York City during Christmas time makes me giddy! Christmas is already my favorite time of year, so my favorite place at my favorite time of year would be perfect!  I went last Christmas on a mission trip to the Bowery Mission, and it was an experience I'll never forget. What they do there is incredible and I'm so glad that that's how I first experienced NYC. That trip to NYC stirred something inside of me. That was when my makeup obsession began and started to grow like crazy. I've always loved makeup, but something about being in the city made that dream open up in me. Oh, how I would love to do makeup for the runway! Major dreams! I want to start pursuing makeup more seriously, but as of right now it will have to wait until I finish my first degree! I feel so alive and I just love it. I can't exactly put my feelings into words, but I'm trying. One of my favorite things about being in NYC is getting to dress nice. Living in Louisiana, we never look nice on an ordinary day. Nike shorts and a t-shirt is the usual attire and it gets so boring. I love pulling out my 3-quarter length sweaters in the city and actually looking like a person. It is WAY too hot here in Louisiana to wear them whenever we want, so usually I just look like I just rolled out of bed. Seriously, if you just saw me around, you'd  never know I could do makeup. Anyway, I love NYC. The place has stolen my heart.
What a view...
Gives me chills!

I would also LOVE to go to London, and I know I will someday. Maybe there will be a blog post about how much I love it there too! :)

Where do you feel like you belong?
